How to cancel CapCut subscription (and what to use instead)

Canceling a CapCut subscription takes about a minute once you're in the right place, and the right place is wherever you subscribed, not inside the editor. The other thing worth knowing before you tap anything is the deadline. CapCut's help pages say a renewal charges if you haven't canceled at least 24 hours before the renewal date. Everything below comes from CapCut's own help pages and Terms of Service plus Apple's and Google's official support docs, checked September 2026.

How to cancel CapCut subscription on each platform

Subscriptions are billed by the platform you bought through, so that platform is where the cancel button lives.

On the web or desktop app

If you subscribed on capcut.com or in the desktop app, cancellation happens on your account's subscription page. Open your profile, find the subscription section, and turn off auto-renewal. CapCut's help pages note that in some cases the setting can't be changed directly by users. When that happens, contact their support with your account email, your device and platform, a screenshot of the problem, and the order number from your payment receipt. That's CapCut's own list of what makes the ticket move.

On iPhone

Apple's official path. Open Settings, tap your name, tap Subscriptions, tap CapCut, then tap Cancel Subscription. If there's no cancel button, the subscription is already off auto-renew or was billed somewhere else.

On Android

Google's official path. Open subscriptions in Google Play, select CapCut, tap Cancel subscription, and follow the prompts.

The 14-day refund rule buried in CapCut's terms

CapCut's refund story has two layers, and most people only ever see the first. The help pages call subscriptions virtual goods and say purchases generally don't support refunds, with appeals reserved for cases like double billing. The Terms of Service say more. Section 7 grants a full refund if you cancel within 14 calendar days of the start of your subscription, with or without reason, provided you haven't used the Premium Services at all since subscribing. The refund goes back to your original payment method. Two caveats from the same document. Subscriptions bought through the App Store or Google Play follow Apple's and Google's refund terms instead, and EU and UK residents hold a separate 14-day right of withdrawal on top.

Practical translation. If you subscribed recently and never touched the Pro features, cite the 14-day clause in your support request instead of asking generically.

The traps that keep people paying

Deleting the app cancels nothing. Google's support page says it plainly, when you uninstall the app, your subscription won't cancel, and the same billing logic holds on iOS. The subscription lives in your platform account, so that's where it has to die.

The second trap is not knowing where you're billed. If you don't remember how you subscribed, your card or bank statement answers it. A charge from Apple means the iPhone path above, Google means Play, and a charge from CapCut itself means the web path.

What to use instead of CapCut

Worth asking before the next subscription. If you're leaving because the AI features didn't earn the bill, the one job most worth automating is the cleanup pass, the silence, filler words and retakes that eat editing time before the creative work starts. That's the whole job SilentCut is built around, on the timelines editors actually finish on. SilentCut isn't public yet, so if the cleanup pass is your reason for shopping, it's the one to watch.

Before the cancel button, the CapCut alternatives breakdown is worth two minutes, because which wall you hit decides where you should land.
